G4S FM provide facilities management service to Prisons across the UK and are responsible for delivery of planned maintenance, variations to the service contract and updates required to meet legislative requirements.
It was identified that a new In Cell Fire Alarm system was required at HMP Altcourse, Liverpool to comply with new standards.
G4S appointed Callidus to act as Project Managers following an internal change within the Project Team. At the time of our appointment the scope of work had been defined and the contract awarded to the Main Contractor, G4S Fire & Security Systems.

When we were appointed as Project Manager the project had commenced on site, it was therefore imperative that we familiarised ourselves with the scheme urgently. We quickly disseminated the project information and arranged a combined briefing and progress meeting in order to meet the team. The first meeting allowed us to confirm the project governance and reporting structure, define the meeting schedule and to update existing project documentation.
The monthly progress meeting is attended by the C&JS, SPV, G4S Facilities Team, Contractor and ourselves. All stakeholders are now aware of progress against budget, project costs, required authorisations and site constraints adherence. As part of our service we verify the installation of the works on site.
Our collaborative approach to consultancy, along with a clear and professional communication strategy, allowed us to quickly integrate with the ‘live’ project team.
The project is ongoing site with completion due in May 2017.
